Approving precinct boundary and polling location changes for Wards 1 and 2 for the November 7, 2023 General Election.
Body
WHEREAS, the City Council approved new precinct boundaries after the Charter Commission approved new ward boundaries in 2022; and
WHEREAS, two precinct boundaries in Wards 1 and 2 need to be revised to better accommodate the voters in those locations; and
WHEREAS, Ramsey County Elections Office staff has made recommendations for changes; now
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that Ramsey County Elections is directed to transfer territory from Ward-1 Precinct-2 to Ward-1 Precinct-7; transferring the southwestern part of Ward-1 Precinct-2 bounded by Portland Ave., Grotto St. N., and Summit Ave., to Ward-1 Precinct-7. Voters who live in this territory will vote at Unity Unitarian Church, 733 Portland Avenue; and
BE IT ALSO RESOLVED, that Ramsey County Elections is directed to transfer territory from Ward-2 Precinct-3 to Ward-2 Precinct-7; transferring the northern part of Ward-2 Precinct-3 bounded by Kellogg Blvd. West, John Ireland Blvd., Interstate Hwy 94, Wabasha St. North, and 7th St. East, to Ward-2 Precinct, establishing Kellogg Blvd. as the northern boundary of Precinct-2 Ward-3. Voters who live in this territory will vote at the Landmark Center, 75 5th St. West; and
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED, that these precinct and polling place designations will become effective for the November 7, 2023 general election. Should further changes occur in the polling place locations between the date of this resolution and November 7, 2023, the Ramsey County Election Bureau is hereby authorized to find appropriate locations in which to hold the elections. A postal notification will be sent to all registered voters affected by the changes.
