WHEREAS, by CF #23-681, the Department of Parks and Recreation applied for and has received $24,000 in grant funds from the Twin Cities Public Television “SciGirls East Side STEM Programing with Kids Grant” to support recreation center programming and two summer STEM Camps and activities (eight recreation centers will receive $2,000 each (Arlington Hills, Edgcumbe, El Rio, Langford Park, Linwood, Martin Luther King, North Dale, and Palace), and Dayton’s Bluff/American Indian Magnet and Wilder/Washington Tech Magnet, will receive to $4,000 for each center; and

WHEREAS, grant funds will allow the Department of Parks and Recreation to provide quality STEM programing to Saint Paul youth; and

WHEREAS, there is no match amount required of these funds by the City and other supporting agencies; and

WHEREAS, the TCPT grant requires that the Department of Parks and Recreation enter into a grant agreement that details the conditions of the grant; and

WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Saint Paul finds that the expenditure of these funds to provide quality STEM programing for Saint Paul youth has a public purpose; and

WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation wishes to accept this grant and utilize the funding through the spending plan that has been developed; and

WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation wishes to amend the Grant Fund budget to reflect this additional funding; and

WHEREAS, the Mayor, pursuant to Section 10.07.01 of the Charter of the City of Saint Paul, does certify that there are available for appropriation, funds of $24,000 in exces...
