Authorizing the Department of Parks and Recreation to apply for up to $20,000 from Ramsey County where no match is required, and if awarded, accept said grant to support the Building Inclusive Athletics project.

WHEREAS, Ramsey County offers the Community Innovation Award grant; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation is requesting permission to apply for up to $20,000 from the Community Innovation Award grant program, and if awarded, accept said grant to support the Building Inclusive Athletics project; and
WHEREAS, grant funds would allow the Department of Parks and Recreation to provide quality, sports-based opportunities and excursions to Saint Paul youth; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation will provide sports camps and clinics for Saint Paul youth, introducing them to the basic skills of play and encouraging them to continue playing by joining a team; and
WHEREAS, there is no match required of these funds by the City and other supporting agencies of the Building Inclusive Athletics project: now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Saint Paul authorizes the Department of Parks and Recreation to apply for up to $20,000 in funds from the Community Innovation Award program, and if awarded, accept said grant from Ramsey County.
