Title

Authorizing the Fire Department to enter into a joint powers agreement with the Minnesota State Patrol to provide qualified and trained paramedics to support the Minnesota State Patrol's Special Response Team.

Body

WHEREAS, pursuant to Minn. Stat. Section 471.59, two or more governmental units, by agreement entered into through action of their governing bodies, may jointly or cooperatively exercise any power common to the contracting parties or may provide for the exercise of such powers by one or more of the participating governmental units on behalf of the other participating units; and

 

WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul through its Fire Department and the State of Minnesota through the Minnesota State Patrol will provide qualified and trained paramedics to support the Minnesota State Patrol's Special Response Team as needed: and

 

WHEREAS, the Minnesota State Patrol will reimburse the Fire Department costs associated with paramedics; now, therefore, be it

 

RESOLVED, that the proper City officials are hereby authorized and directed to execute a joint powers agreement with the Minnesota State Patrol for the paramedics for the Special Response Team; a copy of said agreement is to be kept on file and of record in the Fire Department.
