Recognizing the First Place award of Team Thune at the World Snow Sculpting Championship and proclaiming February 1, 2023 as "House of Thune Day" in the City of Saint Paul.

WHEREAS, the World Snow Sculpting Championship was held January 18-22, 2023, in neighboring Stillwater Minnesota; and
WHEREAS, the members of Team Thune, representing Minnesota competed with 11 other teams from around the world in the event, which is sanctioned by Finland-based Association Internationale de Sculpture sur Neige et Glase; and
WHEREAS, Team Thune members Dusty Thune, Kelly Thune, and David Aichenger created a sculpture titled “Journey,” telling the story of these past years when crisis after crisis left us torn, grasping for stability, questioning ourselves in our journey through life. Each day brought new opportunities to fall apart and then put ourselves back together again, each time in a slightly different way; and
WHEREAS, along the way the team itself faced personal adversity yet rose to the occasion; and
WHEREAS, the team and its sculpture were awarded First Place and are now acknowledged as the Best in the World and make Saint Paul proud; now therefore be it
RESOLVED that Wednesday, February 1, 2023 shall be known as “House of Thune Day” in the City of Saint Paul Minnesota.
