Title

Authorizing the Department of Parks and Recreation to apply for and accept a grant from the Cities for Financial Empowerment Fund for the Innovative Banking to Support At-Risk Youth in an amount of $70,000 to create a new wealth building component of the Four Directions Bridge Program for Native American Youth involved with Right Track.

Body

WHEREAS, the Parks and Recreation Department is prepared to apply for and accept grant funds from the Cities for Financial Empowerment Fund for innovative solutions to banking and wealth building in the Native American Community; and,

 

WHEREAS, the grant will provide financial and technical support in connecting Native American youth to healthy banking options and wealth building education courses; and

 

WHEREAS, the grant does not require any matching funds from the City; and

 

WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation would like to accept the funds to help support the Right Track team in building a stronger eco-system of support for Native American youth participating in the Four Directions Bridge program; and,

 

WHEREAS, the mission of Right Track is to connect Saint Paul youth and young adults with meaningful work experience, training and career exploration opportunities so they are prepared to thrive and prosper as adults; and

 

WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the Right Track program has a public purpose; now, therefore, be it

 

RESOLVED, that the City Council of Saint Paul hereby authorizes the Parks and Recreation Department to apply for and accept the Banking to Support At-Risk Youth from the Cities for Financial Empowerment Fund for $70,000.
