Authorizing the Mayor’s Office to accept sponsorship and donations from Xcel Energy for the EVIE Carshare program to fund program operations and amending the 2022 budget for the department of Public Works.
Body
WHEREAS, the Saint Paul City Council has repeatedly recognized the importance of fighting climate change (RES 22-98; RES 20-311; ORD 19-81); and

WHEREAS, the Saint Paul City Council has adopted the City’s Climate Action and ResiliencePlan (RES PH 19-416); and

WHEREAS, a key initiative of the Climate Action Plan is to continue to increase access to shared electric vehicles in partnership with car-sharing services and Xcel Energy; and

WHEREAS, the EV Spot Network is a series of 70 renewably-powered curbside electric charging (EV Spot Charging) locations within the cities of Saint Paul and Minneapolis that offer public access to the new all-electric Evie carshare service and the EV spot electric charging stations; and

WHEREAS, the EVIE carshare service is an electric car sharing service of the City of Saint Paul operated by HOURCAR in a 35 square mile "Home Area" in Saint Paul and Minneapolis; and

WHEREAS, Xcel Energy is a leader in the clean energy transition, with a vision to convert to 100% renewable energy by 2050; and

WHEREAS, the support and partnership of Xcel Energy has been and continues to be critical to the success of the EV Spot Network; and

WHEREAS, the Mayor’s Office wishes to publicly recognize Xcel Energy’s continued support of the EV Spot Network; and

WHEREAS, Xcel Energy’s contribution of $75,000 will contribute to the operations the EV Spot Network; and

WHEREAS, in exchange for its contribution, Xcel wishes to be recognized as a partner of the City of Saint Paul regarding the EV Spot Network; and

WHEREAS, the Mayor, pursuant to Section 10.07.1 of the City Charter, does certify that there are available for appropriation funds of $75,000 in excess of those estimated in the 2022 budget; now, therefore, be it
