Accepting the gift of the costs of travel, food, and lodging from Urban Strategies, Incorporated for Mayor Melvin Carter and Muneer Karcher-Ramos to attend the Partnership for Resilient and Equitable Communities convening in Selma, Alabama, on December 6, 2022.

 

Body

WHEREAS, Urban Strategies is hosting a convening of cities and community organizations as part of the Partnership for Equitable and Resilient Communities (PERC) program through the Melville Charitable Trust focused on improving conditions of community well-being among individuals, families, and communities of color in select cities across the United States; and

 

WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul was chosen by Urban Strategies and Melville Charitable Trust as a PERC Partner City; and

 

WHEREAS, the PERC convening will cities and community organizations support community engagement; development planning and collaborative decision making; increase access to funding streams; and create a new model for community organizations and government to work together; and

 

WHEREAS, Urban Strategies invited Mayor Carter to speak and Director Muneer Karcher-Ramos to attend the Partnership for Resilient and Equitable Communities convening in Selma, Alabama on December 6, 2022; and

 

WHEREAS, Urban Strategies offered to pay travel expenses for Mayor Melvin Carter and Director Muneer Karcher-Ramos to attend the PERC convening; and

 

WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Saint Paul finds Mayor Carter’s and Director Karcher-Ramos’ attendance at the PERC Convening will be beneficial to the City in providing a deeper understanding of approaches to economic equity and community partnership; now therefore, be it

 

RESOLVED, that the City Council hereby accepts the gift of up to $3,500 toward the cost of travel, food, and lodging expenses for Mayor Carter and Director Karcher-Ramos to attend the PERC convening in Selma, Alabama on December 6, 2022, and thanks Urban Strategies for its generous gift.
