Appointing the interim Ward 1 councilmember finishing the remainder of the term of Councilmember Dai Thao.

WHEREAS, on July 13, 2022, pursuant to section 2.04 Saint Paul City Charter, Councilmember Dai Thao filed his resignation in writing with the City Clerk, effective August 1, 2022, thereby creating a vacancy in the office of councilmember for Ward 1 on the effective date.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Saint Paul, pursuant to Section 2.05 (A) of the Saint Paul City Charter, does hereby appoint Russel Balenger as a city councilmember to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Councilmember Dai Thao, and to serve in such position until December 31, 2023; and, be it
FURTHER RESOLVED, this appointment is effective on August 10, immediately following the administration of the oath of office to Russel Balenger , as required by Section 17.03 of the Saint Paul City Charter.
