Title

Authorizing the Department of Parks and Recreation to enter into a professional service agreement with American Red Cross for lifeguard and aquatic facility auditing services which includes indemnification.

 

Body

 

WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation wishes to ensure the safety of all swim program participants and has benefited from regular external assessments for several years; and

 

WHEREAS, the American Red Cross is a recognized leader in the field of lifeguard training and assessment as well as facility preparedness; and

 

WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation is currently using the American Red Cross’ lifeguard training curriculum and conducting regular internal audits and in-service trainings based on that curriculum; and

 

WHEREAS, the American Red Cross requires the City to provide indemnification to American Red Cross in order to receive their services; and

 

WHEREAS, the City Council finds that contracting the American Red Cross serves a public purpose by providing an additional framework for aquatic safety within Parks and Recreation programs and facilities; now, therefore, be it

 

RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council hereby authorizes the appropriate city officials to enter into the attached professional service agreement which contains an indemnification provision.
