Authorizing the Department of Parks and Recreation to accept a donation in the amount of $22,000 from the Midway Men's Club to support Recreation Center programming.
Body
WHEREAS, Saint Paul Parks and Recreation, through recreation centers and programs, offers many events, classes, and activities for youth and families in Saint Paul; and
WHEREAS, the Midway Men's Club is a fundraising group which has supported youth activities through monetary donations in the Midway area since 1960; and
WHEREAS, the Midway Men's Club wishes to donate $22,000 for use in 2022 to enhance youth programming within Saint Paul at the following Parks and Recreation Centers:
Adaptive Recreation $1,500
Hancock $4,000
Jimmy Lee $1,500
McDonough $1,500
MLK $1,500
Merriam Park $1,500
North Dale $2,000
Northwest Como $1,500
Rice $1,500
Frogtown Community Center $2,000
West Minnehaha $2,500
Youth Commission $1,000; and
WHEREAS, the money will be used to create and support programs for neighborhood youth offered by Saint Paul Parks and Recreation at the above listed Recreation Centers and programs; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council accepts the donation in the amount of $22,000 to support Recreation Center programming from the Midway Men's Club, and thanks them for their generous donation.
