Authorizing the Department of Public Works Garbage Program to accept funds for Liquidated Damages from WM (formerly Waste Management) in the amount of $11,850.
Body
WHEREAS, the liquidated damages arise from WM’s failure to provide the high level of customer service contemplated by the City’s organized collection agreement with the Consortium; and
WHEREAS, the imposition of liquidated damages is a tangible expression of the City’s commitment to holding the Consortium and Consortium Members accountable for providing consistent and high quality customer service throughout Saint Paul; and
WHEREAS, the liquidated damage funds will be used to promote, in all wards within the City, waste reduction and bulky item collection; and
WHEREAS, using the funds to promote waste reduction and bulky item collection is consistent with the City priorities listed in RES 16-1300; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the City Council of Saint Paul hereby authorizes the Department of Public Works to accept grant funds from WM in the amount of $11,850 for budget and program year 2022 and to use the funds for the purpose of promoting waste reduction and bulky item collection throughout all City wards. The City Council of Saint Paul approves the amendments to the fund budget as detailed in the attached financial analysis.
