Authorizing the Department of Parks and Recreation to purchase gift cards for Awakenings Program youth participants during the 2021-2022 program.
Body
WHEREAS, the Awakenings Program is part of Community First Public Safety which is a division of Parks and Recreation and is focused on helping youth and their families in St. Paul; and
WHEREAS, the Awakenings Program believes that providing up to $1,000 in gift cards to youth will help enhance their program participation and serves a public purpose that benefits Saint Paul youth; and
WHEREAS, these gift cards will provide 56 youth and their families the opportunity to purchase needed items; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council hereby finds a public purpose in this expense, and approves the purchasing and giving of up to $1,000 in gift cards to youth participants of the Awakenings Program.
