Title

Authorizing the Department of Parks and Recreation to enter into a two-year agreement with the Regents of the University of Minnesota, through the College of Veterinary Medicine on behalf of Como Park Zoo and Conservatory, for veterinary care services in the amount of up to $38,121 per year.

 

Body

WHEREAS, Como Zoo is an AZA accredited institution with an animal collection of over 1,500 animals representing 157 species; and

WHEREAS, the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine has offered clinical services and identified licensed and accredited faculty members to serve as the primary veterinarian for Como Zoo; and

WHEREAS, both parties wish to enter into an agreement to provide Como Zoo veterinarian care for the animals; and

WHEREAS, the animals will continue to receive the care they need to stay in line with industry practices and association standards; and

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council authorizes the appropriate City officials to enter into a two year agreement with the Regents of the University of Minnesota through the College of Veterinarian Medicine on behalf of the Como Park Zoo and Conservatory for veterinary services performed in the annual amount of $38,121.
