Authorizing the Department of Parks and Recreation to apply for up to $15,000 from the Metropolitan Regional Arts Council’s (MRAC) Flexible Support grant to support the Saint Paul Nature Champions project.

WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul performs significant services for residents of the Metropolitan area and all Minnesota residents through its ownership and operation of its parks, trails, and amenities; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation is requesting permission to apply for, and if awarded, accept up to $15,000 in grant funds from the MRAC to support the Dayton’s Bluff Community Theater project; and
WHEREAS, grant funds would allow the Department of Parks and Recreation to provide quality, theater-based instruction to Saint Paul youth, specifically youth from the Dayton’s Bluff community; and
WHEREAS, there is no match amount required of these funds by the City and other supporting agencies of the Dayton’s Bluff Community Theater project; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council hereby authorizes the Director of Parks and Recreation to apply for, and if approved, accept said grant, and utilize funds as approved for the project herein.
