Title

Amending the 2021 special fund budget and adding an activity for the 2022 Toward Zero Deaths Enforcement Program grant from the State of Minnesota, Department of Public Safety in the amount of $617,150.

WHEREAS, The City of Saint Paul, Police Department was awarded the 2022 Toward Zero Death Enforcement Program grant in the amount of $617,150 with the State of Minnesota, Department of Public Safety and has sub-granted $323,638 of this grant to multiple police departments approved on RES 21-1645; and

 

WHEREAS, this grant provides funds for the costs of personnel and equipment in its effort to increase compliance with traffic safety laws with particular emphasis on seat belt, child safety and driving while intoxicated and

 

WHEREAS, the 2021 financing and spending plan needs to be amended and activity budget added for these funds; and

 

WHEREAS, the Mayor pursuant to Section 10.07.1 of the Charter of the City of Saint Paul, does certify that there are available for appropriation funds of $617,150 in excess of those estimated in the 2021 budget and recommends the following changes; and

 

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the council accepts this grant and authorizes the City of Saint Paul to enter into, and Assistant Chief Robert Thomasser to implement the attached agreement with the State of Minnesota, Department of Public Safety and approves these changes to the 2021 budget.
