Approving the Mayor’s appointments of Abas Kawo and Abdul Mohamed to the Human Rights and Equal Economic Opportunity Commission.

WHEREAS, the Human Rights and Equal Economic Opportunity (HREEO ) Commission is responsible for monitoring and advising the department on promoting justice, equity and fosters hiring policies that maximize the diversity of the workforce of the city; and
WHEREAS, Saint Paul Legislative Code Section 183.19 (1) states that the Human Rights and Equal Economic Opportunity Commission consists of twenty-one (21) members appointed by the Mayor with the consent of the Council; and
WHEREAS, Abas Kawo and Abdul Mohamed applied to fill vacancies on the Human Rights and Equal Economic Opportunity Commission; and
WHEREAS, Mayor Melvin Carter wishes to appoint Abas Kawo and Abdul Mohamed to the Human Rights and Equal Employment Opportunity Commission for a three-year term ending on October 31, 2024; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council approves the appointment of Abas Kawo and Abdul Mohamed to the Human Rights and Equal Employment Opportunity Commission for a three-year term ending on October 31, 2024.
