Amending the 2021 special fund budget and adding an activity for the 2022 National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) 2022 DWI Officer grant from the State of Minnesota Department of Public Safety.

WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul, Police Department (SPPD) has been awarded the 2022 National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) 2022 DWI Officer grant from the State of Minnesota Department of Public Safety; and
WHEREAS, this grant is federally financed by the NHTSA with impaired driving funds and the federal guidelines require this money be spent on projects designed to reduce DWI incidents; and
WHEREAS, SPPD will use the funding to reimburse department salary and overtime expense for efforts dedicated to this cause; and
WHEREAS, the 2022 financing and spending plan needs to be amended and activity budget added for these funds; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor pursuant to Section 10.07.1 of the Charter of the City of Saint Paul, does certify that there are available for appropriation funds of $125,000 in excess of those estimated in the 2021 budget and recommends the following changes; and
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that council accepts this grant award and authorizes the City of Saint Paul to enter into an agreement for this grant award and approves these changes to the 2021 budget.
