Approving the expenditure of program dollars on housing expenses for Alyssa Franzmeier, Beatrice Crow, Kara Komoto, and Maley Wagner, returning VISTA members of Saint Paul’s VISTA Program, in an amount not to exceed $12,000.
Body
WHEREAS, the VISTA members are returning for a second year of service of the AmeriCorps VISTA program; and
WHEREAS, in keeping with the requirements and philosophy of the national AmeriCorps VISTA program, is paid poverty-level wages of $15,001.50 ($17,403.20 for VISTA Leader) annually; and
WHEREAS, Corporation for National and Community Service to provide up to 15 AmeriCorps VISTA members to the Saint Paul VISTA Program for the 2021-2022 program year; and
WHEREAS, organizations hosting VISTA members are allowed to pay a portion of a VISTA member’s housing expenses; and
WHEREAS, the expenses must be paid directly to the landlord and not to the VISTA member; and
WHEREAS, VISTA members may accept offers of free or low-cost housing from community members, education institutions, or sponsoring organizations; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Saint Paul, that Saint Paul VISTA Program staff are authorized to use program dollars on housing expenses for Alyssa Franzmeier, Beatrice Crow, Kara Komoto, and Maley Wagner, returning VISTA members of Saint Paul’s VISTA Program, in an amount not to exceed $12,000.
