Stated Reason for Appeal (if given): Property owner stated that they called Waste Management in January 2020 to request a temporary service hold. The customer service representative stated that the property owner would have to wait for a demolition permit to put a hold on garbage service. The property owner called Waste Management again in April 2020 to inform the hauler that the property would be demolished. The customer service representative again told them that they would need documentation that the property owner. Property owner stated that the property was finally demolished in February 2021. They feel that they should not have to pay their Quarter 1 2021 assessment.
Staff Comments: Hauler records show that there was no documentation of any contact with the property owner until 7/19/2021 when the property owner called to ask why they were still getting invoiced. When the property owner called the customer service representative canceled the account back to September 2020. Based on this information and the fact that city records show that the property was demolished in February 2021, staff recommends removing the assessment. Staff has also removed the Quarter 2 2021 assessment.
