Honoring Joyce Maddox for her service to the City and declaring August 5, 2021 as Joyce Maddox Day

Body

Whereas, Joyce Maddox was appointed by Mayor George Latimer to the Saint Paul Planning Commission and concurrently to the Board of Zoning Appeals on January 27, 1987; and

Whereas, through reappointment by six subsequent mayors, she continued to perform public service to the City of Saint Paul and to her community over the course of nearly 34 years including 18 years as board chair of the Board of Zoning Appeals; and

Whereas, Joyce had a distringuished 25 year career as a bank vice president and branch manager at Commercial State Bank; American Commercial Bank, Firstar Bank, US Bank, Heritage Bank and Anchor Bank; and

Whereas, in addition to her service on the planning commission and board of zoning appeals, Joyce served on the Saint Paul Charter Commission, the Pastoral Council for Saint Stanislaus Church, as a board member and treasurer for the North East Neighborhood Development Corporation, board member and treasurer for the Dayton’s Bluff Area Business Association, board member and treasurer for Dayton’s Bluff Neighborhood Housing Services; and

Whereas, her commitment to this work and steadfast dedication to public service provided wise and valued counsel in shaping the development of Saint Paul; therefore be it

Resolved, the city extends its sincere gratitude to Joyce for her service and on the occasion of her 80th birthday, declares August 5, 2021 to be Joyce Maddox Day in the City of Saint Paul.
