Authorizing the City's acceptance of property owned by the Housing and Redevelopment Authority at the former Hamm's Brewery to be used for park purposes as part of Swede Hollow Park.

WHEREAS, in 2003 the Housing and Redevelopment Authority of the City of Saint Paul ("HRA") purchased 8.79 acres of the former Hamm’s Brewery property (the "HRA Property") from Everest, LLC, as recorded in Document Number 3750568, for the purposes of redevelopment and parkland preservation; and
WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul ("City") agreed to pay the HRA $700,000 for a 2.2-acre portion of the HRA Property to be designated for park use (the "Transfer Parcel"), legally described in Exhibit A attached hereto; and
WHEREAS, in 2004 the City paid the HRA for the Transfer Parcel but did not receive title to it pending final definition of the boundary between the Transfer Parcel and the remaining HRA Property; and
WHEREAS, the boundary line has now been established and title to the Transfer Parcel may now be conveyed; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the City Council hereby:
1) Authorizes the City to accept the Transfer Parcel from the HRA, as legally described in Exhibit A,
2) Designates the Transfer Parcel as city parkland, to be incorporated into the adjoining Swede Hollow Park, and
3) Authorizes and directs the proper city officials to take all actions necessary to implement this resolution, including execution of any other documents and instruments in connection with the conveyance, and to record the deed from the HRA with the Ramsey County Recorder's Office and/or Registrar of Deeds.
