Pertaining to the purchase of certain real property adjacent to the McCarron’s Water Treatment Plant addressed as 1845 Beaumont Street in the City of Maplewood.

WHEREAS, the Board of Water Commissioners of the City of Saint Paul (“Board”) is in the midst of its McCarron’s Water Treatment Plant Project (“Project”); and
WHEREAS, the Project will serve a significant public purpose of continuing to supply clean and safe water to the region of over 450,000 customers that SPRWS currently serves; and
WHEREAS, staff recommends that the needs of the Project will be served by acquiring certain real property adjacent to the Board’s McCarron’s Water Treatment Plant addressed as 1845 Beaumont Street in the City of Maplewood (“Property”), and that it is financially prudent to do so; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the Board of Water Commissioners of the City of Saint Paul does hereby direct staff to negotiate with the current owners the purchase price of the Property and present to the Board a purchase agreement for approval once a price has been successfully negotiated; and be it
FURTHER RESOLVED, that if negotiations to purchase the Property are unsuccessful, Board staff and the Board Attorney are hereby authorized and directed to take all actions necessary to acquire said Property by eminent domain, including quick take, and that Board staff submit a report to the Board for the purpose of the Board’s making an award of damages for the interest acquired on the Property.
