Title

Authorizing the Department of Safety and Inspections to receive funds for a citywide wetland management plan update of up to $45,000 from the Capital Region Watershed District to jointly develop wetland restoration strategies and authorizing the proper City officials to execute a partnership agreement.

 

Body

WHEREAS, the Department of Safety and Inspections (DSI) is leading an update to the city’s 2008 Wetland Management Plan in cooperation with the Departments of Public Works, Parks and Recreation, and Planning and Economic Development; and

 

WHEREAS, Capitol Region Watershed District has budgeted expenditures in their 2021 annual work plan to contribute towards this citywide wetland management plan update in recognition of their technical expertise, shared water resource assets, and to leverage public funds; and

 

WHEREAS, DSI is requesting permission to accept a financial contribution of up to $45,000 from the Capitol Region Watershed District to jointly develop wetland restoration strategies and to enter into a partnership agreement with the Capitol Region Watershed District; and

 

WHEREAS, the City Council of Saint Paul finds that the expenditure of these funds to update the city’s 2008 Wetland Management Plan has a public purpose. Now, therefore, be it

 

RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Saint Paul authorizes DSI to receive funds for a citywide wetland management plan update of up to $45,000 from the Capital Region Watershed District to jointly develop wetland restoration strategies and authorizes the proper City of Saint Paul officials to enter into the partnership agreement with Capital Region Watershed District.
