Authorizing the Fire Department to enter into a joint powers agreement with the General Services Administration to provide fire and hazardous materials response to the Whipple Building federal complex.

 

Body

WHEREAS, Minn. Stat. 471.59 permits two or more governmental units, by agreement entered into through action of their governing bodies, to enter into agreements to exercise jointly or cooperatively governmental powers common to each and to permit one governmental entity to perform services or functions for another governmental unit; and

 

WHEREAS, the General Services Administration intends to engage Saint Paul's Fire Department to provide fire and hazardous materials response team services to the Whipple Building federal complex; and

 

WHEREAS, Saint Paul through its Fire Department is willing and able to provide the year-round services and equipment desired by the General Services Administration when requested, Now, therefore, be it

 

RESOLVED, that the proper City officials are hereby authorized and directed to execute a fire and hazardous materials response joint powers agreement with the General Services Administration provided by the Saint Paul Fire Department; a copy of said agreement is to be kept on file and of record in the Fire Department.
