Approving the Mayor’s appointment of Rebecca Noecker to the Saint Paul Port Authority for a term ending on July 31, 2023.
Body
WHEREAS, Minnesota State Statute 469.050 (Subdivision 1) states that the Saint Paul Port Authority consists of seven (7) commissioners, two of whom must be members of the Saint Paul City Council, appointed by the Mayor with the consent of the Council; and
WHEREAS, Councilmember Rebecca Noecker expressed an interest in serving as a commissioner on the Saint Paul Port Authority given her professional background in working in areas involving civic engagement, boards on the West Side Community Organization, and the St. Paul Planning Commission and is currently a Saint Paul City Councilmember representing the Second Ward; and
WHEREAS, Councilmember Mitra Jalali, a current member of the Saint Paul Port Authority with a term ending on July 31, 2023, intends to step down leaving a vacancy to be occupied by Saint Paul City Councilmember Rebecca Noecker with a term ending on July 31, 2023; and
WHEREAS, Councilmember Rebecca Noecker will serve the remainder of Councilmember Mitra Jalali’s term to the Saint Paul Port Authority ending on July 31, 2023; and
WHEREAS, Mayor Carter wishes to appoint Councilmember Rebecca Noecker to the Saint Paul Port Authority to a term ending on July 31, 2023; now, therefore be it
RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council consents to the appointment of Councilmember Rebecca Noecker to a term ending July 31, 2023, as a commissioner on the Saint Paul Port Authority.
