WHEREAS, Women’s History Month celebrates the achievements of women in Arts, Education, Entertainment, Government, History, Law, Literature, Medicine, the Military, Music, Politics, Science, Sports, and other endeavors; and

WHEREAS, the work and accomplishments of women have been historically under appreciated; and

WHEREAS, women have been oppressed and marginalized in various ways throughout history, and continue to face sexism, misogyny, racism and transphobia to this day; and

WHEREAS, we must integrate the perspectives of ALL women - including Black, Indigenous, Women of Color and Trans Women - into our social and political spheres; and

WHEREAS, women serve as political, social, and cultural leaders in Saint Paul; and

WHEREAS, the work of many of these women has been recognized both on a state and a national level; and

WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul has directly benefited from the contributions of women, yet too many have been forgotten and gone unrecognized; and

WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul will strive to uphold ALL women in their respective spheres with the understanding that there is still progress to be made; and now therefore
