Stated Reason for Appeal (if given): I moved in to this home last October and have been paying every garbage bill. The issue is that the garbage bill comes in a different name instead of my name and it continues to come in a different name even though I have contacted my garbage pickup service provider to change the name on the bill. There seems to be garbage two accounts for this home and I have consistently been paying to one of them. This is not the first time I got a hearing notice. The previous one couldn't be resolved due to Covid-19 and courthouse being closed
Staff Comments: Hauler confirmed that there is only one account for this property. Staff records show that the hauler update sent on 12/26/2019 has a work order to change the name on the account to the current property owner. Therefore staff recommends removing the late fees and reducing the assessment to $99.43. Staff has also requested that the hauler credit the account for any late fees generated in Q1 2020 & Q2 2020.

WHEREAS, the Office of Financial Services Real Estate Section has attached to this Council File both a report of completion outlining the costs and fees associated with collection of Delinquent Garbage Bills for services during July to September 2020. (File No. CG2004A6, Assessment No. 200168) and the assessment roll including all properties for which these assessments are proposed for Council ratification; and
WHEREAS, the City Council’s Legislative Hearing Officer has reviewed an appeal of this assessment and developed a recommendation for the City Council with respect to this assessment; and
WHEREAS, a public hearing having been conducted for the above improvement, and said assessment having been further considered by the Council and having been considered financially satisfactory; Now, Therefore, Be It
RESOLVED, that pursuant to Chapter 14 of the Saint Paul City Charter, said assessment is hereby deleted.
