Authorizing the Fire Department to apply for the 2020 Fire Prevention and Safety Grant in the amount of $173,000 from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to provide fire investigation training and equipment and health and wellness programs for firefighters including peer support, peer fitness, and cancer task force.

 

Body

WHEREAS, the Fire Department would like to apply for the 2020 Fire Prevention and Safety Grant to provide fire investigation training and equipment and health and wellness programs for firefighters including peer support, peer fitness, and cancer task force; and

 

WHEREAS, the grant amount would be $173,000, of which the federal government would provide $164,761.90 to support the grant; and

 

WHEREAS, the grant requires a 5% match of $8,238.10 which would be paid from the fire department's budget, now, therefore, be it

 

RESOLVED, that the City Council authorizes the Fire Department to apply for the 2020 Fire Prevention and Safety Grant.
