Authorizing the Fire Department to apply for the 2020 Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) in the amount of $2,006,978 from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to purchase 275 portable radios and provide cardiac and cancer screenings for firefighters.

WHEREAS, the Fire Department would like to apply for the 2020 Assistance to Firefighters Grant to purchase 275 portable radios and accessories and cardiac and cancer screenings for firefighters that are recommended under NFPA 1582 and the International Association of Fire Chiefs; and
WHEREAS, the grant amount would be $2,006,978, of which the federal government would provide $1,824,526 to support the grant; and
WHEREAS, the grant requires a 10% match of $182,452 which would be paid from the fire department's budget, now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the City Council authorizes the Fire Department to apply for the 2020 Assistance to the Firefighters Grant.
