Authorizing the City to enter into cooperative agreement PUBW2021-01 with Ramsey County for the construction of Traffic Signal System Improvements.
Body
WHEREAS, the following traffic signal system improvements are in progress or have been completed by the City of Saint Paul:
• Traffic Signal Interconnect System on Payne between E. 7th and Minnehaha
• Traffic Signal Interconnect System on Como between Marion and Western
• Traffic Signal Control Cabinet Hardware and Engineering Design on Lexington between St. Anthony and Concordia
• Traffic Signal and Interconnect System and Safety Reconfiguration on Randolph at Cleveland
• Construction of Traffic Signal and Interconnect System on Minnehaha and Western
• Downtown Signal Enhancements on Warner/Shepard, Robert and Marion
WHEREAS, Ramsey County has agreed to share in the cost of the improvements as shown in Exhibit A of the agreement; and
WHEREAS, the Agreement contains a mutual indemnification provision, wherein the City and County agree to indemnify, defend, and hold each other harmless against any and all liability which the indemnified party sustains as the result of their own employees’ acts or omissions pursuant to the Agreement; and
WHEREAS, the City finds that promise of indemnity is reasonable and necessary for the purpose of achieving safe and efficient traffic management, as detailed in the Agreement; and
WHEREAS, the cooperative agreement defines ownership and maintenance responsibilities for the improvements; now, therefore be it
RESOLVED, that the Mayor and the proper City Officials are hereby authorized and directed for and on behalf of the City to enter into Ramsey County Cooperative Agreement PUBW2021-01, a copy of which is before Council and is made a part hereof; and be it finally
