Authorizing the City to accept the donation of services of a climate advisor to assist the City in its work with the American Cities Climate Challenge.

Body

WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul (City) and the Natural Resources Defense Council, Inc. (NRDC), entered into a Memorandum of Understanding to support the City’s work with the American Cities Climate Challenge, which expires on December 31, 2020; and

 

WHEREAS, City and NDRC have agreed to extend this MOU through June 30, 2021, and as part of the ongoing agreement NRDC will continue to provide professional services including the services of a Climate Advisor to work at the City, with all salary and benefits paid by NRDC through a grant with Bloomberg Philanthropies; and

 

WHEREAS, the American Cities Climate Challenge goal is to accelerate and deepen U.S. cities’ efforts to create the greatest climate impact by June 30, 2021, and to showcase the benefits that climate solutions bring; and

 

WHEREAS, The Saint Paul City Council finds that accepting the donation of these professional services and the services of the Climate Advisor will assist the City in implementing its priority climate actions; now, therefore, be it

 

RESOLVED, that the City accepts the donation of services of the American Cities Climate Challenge Climate Advisor and other professional services until June 30, 2021, and thanks NDRC and Bloomberg Philanthropies for their generous gift.
