Authorizing the Department of Parks and Recreation to apply for grant funds of $5,000 from the Walmart Local Community grant fund to support the McDonough Girls and Women in Sports Project. (Laid over from December 9.)

WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation is requesting permission to apply for and, if granted, accept $5,000 in grant funds from the Walmart Local Community Grant fund to support the McDonough Girls and Women in Sports Project; and
WHEREAS, the grant funds, if awarded, will enable the Department of Parks and Recreation to create virtual sports opportunities and provide physical sports kits to Saint Paul youth; and
WHEREAS, the Walmart Local Community Grant fund requires that the Department of Parks and Recreation execute an MOU that details the conditions of the grant application, which includes an indemnification clause; and
WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Saint Paul finds that the expenditure of these funds
to provide the ability to create virtual sports opportunities and provide physical sports kits to Saint Paul youth has a public purpose; and
WHEREAS, there is no match of these funds required by the City and other supporting agencies of the McDonough Girls and Women in Sports Project; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Saint Paul authorizes the Parks and Recreation Department to apply for said grant, and enter into an MOU detailing requirements of the grant application, which includes an indemnification clause.
