Authorizing the City of Saint Paul to enter into an up to 18-month lease with Listening House of St. Paul at the former Fire Station No. 51.

 

Body

WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul ("City") owns the decommissioned Fire Station No. 51 property located at 296 Seventh Street West that most recently housed the City's EMS Academy but now is vacant ("FS 51"); and

 

WHEREAS, the City recognizes the urgent need to address problems facing homeless residents in our area and to assist local organizations that provide services to these individuals; and

 

WHEREAS, the City wishes to partner with the Listening House of St. Paul ("Listening House"), which provides critical services to homeless residents, by offering space in FS 51 for a day drop-in center and potential emergency overnight; and

 

WHEREAS,  the St. Paul Fire Department, on behalf of the City, agrees to enter into an up to 18-month, $1.00 lease with Listening House for said purpose, as provided in Exhibit A attached hereto; now, therefore, be it

 

RESOLVED, that the City Council hereby authorizes and directs the proper city officials to enter into said lease with Listening House in a form and content substantially as set forth in Exhibit A
