Authorizing an increase in the City Grant General Government Fund Budget in the amount of $395,146 to reflect grant funding received from the Minnesota Department of Education, for the purpose of distributing meals to Saint Paul children and adults who are experiencing food insecurity as a result of COVID-19.
Body
WHEREAS, the Office of Financial Empowerment applied for and received a grant of $395,146 from the Minnesota Department of Education to support the city’s effort to address food insecurity through meal distributions in response to the COVID-19 pandemic; and
WHEREAS, the grant funding will allow the City to cover expenditures related to meal distributions at City Park and Recreation sites and community partner sites occurring between July 1-December 30, 2020; and
WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul received approval to apply for funding relating to COVID-19 in RES 20-600; and
WHEREAS, the financing and spending plans have not been established for the funding received; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor pursuant to 10.07.1 of the Charter of the City of Saint Paul, does certify that there are available for appropriation of funds $395,146 in excess of those estimated in the 2020 budget; now, therefore be it
RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council accepts this grant, and hereby approves the changes to the 2020 budget referenced in this resolution.
