Authorizing the Department of Parks and Recreation to apply for, and if awarded, accept funds from the Minnesota Department of Public Safety, Office of Justice Programs in an amount of up to $155,000 for budget and program year 2020.
Body
WHEREAS, the Minnesota Department of Public Safety, Office of Justice Programs is providing grants for communities to respond to COVID-19 by providing new or innovative solutions to engage youth; and
WHEREAS, the Parks and Recreation Department wishes to apply for grant funds to purchase mobile recreation vehicles to bring engaging youth development opportunities to young people and their families throughout the city; and
WHEREAS, one of the initiatives of Recreation Services is to engage youth and families in recreation opportunities; and
WHEREAS, Recreation Services will partner with Right Track to hire young people to help develop curriculum for use with mobile recreation vehicles; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the purpose of the grant funds are consistent with the mission of the Parks and Recreation Department; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the City Council of Saint Paul hereby authorizes the Parks and Recreation Department to apply for and if awarded accept grant funds from the Minnesota Department of Public Safety, Office of Justice Programs in an amount of up to $155,000 for budget and program year 2020.
