Authorizing the Department of Parks and Recreation to enter into a lease agreement with TechnoAlpin, LLC, which will lease a TR8 AM with Booster Pump snow making machine to the City for use at the Como Winter Sports Program.
Body
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation wishes to lease a snowmaking machine from TechnoAlpin for use at the Como Winter Sports Program; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation and the Department of Human Rights and Equal Economic Opportunity have determined the TR8 AM with Booster Pump manufactured by TechnoAlpin is the only commercially available and affordable snowmaking machine that is compatible with existing infrastructure at the Como Winter Sports facility; and
WHEREAS, the Como Snowsports Booster Club has participated in researching snowmaking options and supports this lease to ensure the Como Winter Sports Program can continue; and
WHEREAS, payment for the snowmaking machine will be done through a financing lease with TechnoAlpin, and the lease agreement requires that the City defend and indemnify TechnoAlpin for any claims or causes of action resulting from use of the equipment; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that leasing of the snowmaking machine serves a public purpose as it allows the Department to provide a reliable downhill ski and snowboard program and enhances the Department’s recreational amenities; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council hereby authorizes the appropriate city officials to enter into the attached finance lease which contains an indemnification provision
