Honoring Butch Howard for his service on the Ramsey County Workforce Innovation Board.

WHEREAS, Butch Howard has served diligently in his capacity as a member and two-time Chair of the Ramsey County Workforce Innovation Board and has served on the Executive, Membership and Communications and Outreach Committees, representing the City of Saint Paul through active participation on the Board; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Howard has shown this commitment through his ongoing dedication to the Workforce Innovation Board evidenced by his active membership for over 13 years; and
WHEREAS, in his role as the General Manager of Food & Beverage Operations, HMS Host - at MSP International Airport, Mr. Howard has created partnerships to serve the needs of businesses and job seekers in Ramsey County; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Howard approached his role on the Workforce Innovation Board, with a spirit of service and collaborative devotion in an effort to maintain the economic vitality of Ramsey County; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Howard served as co-chair of Everybody In (EI), a former Workforce Innovation Board regional collaborative focusing on the elimination of racial employment disparities; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Howard’s term on the County’s Workforce Innovation Board is just one part of his faithful service to the City of Saint Paul, which includes his previous service on the Blue-Ribbon Commission in efforts of reducing racial employment disparities; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Howard advocated and implemented several innovative strategies to help people from ethnically diverse backgrounds receive competitive wages; now, therefore be it
RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council, join Mayor Carter in honoring Butch Howard for his service to the City and the County; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, the Saint Paul Council and Mayor Melvin Carter jointly proclaim September 23, 2020 as Butch Howard Day in the City of Saint Paul.
