Authorizing the Department of Parks and Recreation to accept a donation in the amount of $15,000 from the Minnesota Vikings to support the Saint Paul Parks and Recreation certified youth NFL Flag Football League and to amend the Department of Parks and Recreation Grant Fund Budget in the amount of $15,000 to reflect said donation.

Body

WHEREAS, the Minnesota Vikings wish to donate $15,000 for use in 2020 to enhance the Department of Parks and Recreation youth flag football program within Saint Paul; and

WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation is requesting permission to accept said donation of $15,000 from the Minnesota Vikings to support the Saint Paul Parks and Recreation certified youth NFL Flag Football League; and

WHEREAS, the donation, if accepted, will allow the Department of Parks and Recreation to offer free flag football for youth in Saint Paul; and

WHEREAS, there is no requirement for matching funds by the City; and

WHEREAS, the money will be used solely for the league’s participation fees and expenses, and to purchase flag football equipment to support the NFL Flag Football league offered by the Department of Parks and Recreation; and

WHEREAS, the MN Vikings require that the City of Saint Paul agrees to comply with the requirements of said donation, which include entering into an agreement to accept and implement said funds; and

WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the flag football program for the youth of Saint Paul is consistent with the mission of Parks and Recreation; and

WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation wishes to accept said funding and amend the financing and spending plan in the Department of Parks and Recreation in the amount of $15,000 to reflect the funding awarded from the Minnesota Vikings; and

WHEREAS, the Mayor, pursuant to Section 10.07.1 of the Charter of the City of Saint Paul, does certify that there are available for appropriation funds of $15,000 in excess of those estimat...
