Authorizing the Police Department to enter into a grant agreement with Ramsey County, a political subdivision of the State of Minnesota, on behalf of Workforce Solutions for the Coronavirus Emergency (WFS-CARES-093) grant agreement.

WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul, has been awarded the Coronavirus Emergency (WFS-CARES-093) Agreement from Ramsey County, a political subdivision of the State of Minnesota, on behalf of Workforce Solutions in the amount of $57,913; and

 

WHEREAS, the grant will help facilitate the LECPA program that gives participants an opportunity to earn an Associate’s degree and become police officers which has been a leading mechanism for diversifying the Saint Paul Police Department; and

 

WHEREAS, the grant will also help replace some of funding for the sixth cohort that were lost when the start was delayed from spring to fall due to COVID-19 ; and

 

WHEREAS, the Mayor pursuant to Section 10.07.1 of the Charter of the City of Saint Paul, does certify that there are available for appropriation funds of $57,913 in excess of those estimated in the 2020 budget and recommends the following changes; and

 

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that council accepts this grant award and authorizes the City of Saint Paul to enter into an agreement for this grant award and approves these changes to the 2020 budget.
