Authorizing the Police Department to accept the Joint Powers Agreement between the State of Minnesota, acting through its Commissioner of Public Safety on behalf of the State Fire Marshal.

WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul, Police Department wishes to enter into a Joint Powers Agreement with the State of Minnesota, acting through its Commissioner of Public Safety on behalf of the State Fire Marshal which includes an indemnification clause (RES 20-908); and
WHEREAS, this agreement will allow for the reimbursement of expenses incurred by the department’s bomb disposal unit for assistance provided as requested by the State as specified; and
WHEREAS, the term of the agreement is from July 1, 2020 through June 30, 2025 and total amount not to exceed $37,500 for each fiscal year and the total reimbursable obligation shall not exceed $187,500; and
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the council approves entering into and authorizes Chief Todd Axtell to implement the attached Joint Powers Agreement, which includes an indemnification clause.
