Authorizing the Department of Planning and Economic Development to execute an agreement with the Metropolitan Council, which includes an indemnification clause, to accept the Metropolitan Council Livable Communities Tax Base Revitalization Account grant for 1222 University Avenue.
Body
WHEREAS, the Department of Planning and Economic Development applied for and has received grant funding from the Metropolitan Council Livable Communities Tax Base Revitalization Account as reflected in RES 19-1789 and RES PH 20-44; and
WHEREAS, the grant agreement requires the City to defend and indemnify the Metropolitan Council as a condition of receiving the grant funds; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that there is a public purpose in investigating the contamination of the site at 1222 University Avenue and that acceptance of the grant funding will improve the potential redevelopment of the existing building into 62 affordable apartments; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Saint Paul hereby authorizes the proper City officials to execute agreements with the Metropolitan Council, which include an indemnification clause, to accept and implement said grant funds.
