Authorizing the Department of Parks and Recreation to apply for grant funds of $20,000 from the Minnesota State Arts Board.
Body
WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul performs significant services for residents of the Metropolitan area and all Minnesota residents through its ownership and operation of its parks and trails; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation is requesting permission to apply for grant funds in the amount of $20,000 from the Minnesota State Arts Board to support the McDonough Celebrate Me - Celebrate Community Festival and Art Crawl 2021; and
WHEREAS, the grant funds, if awarded, will provide quality artists and art activities to enhance the McDonough Celebrate Me - Celebrate Community Festival and Art Crawl 2021; and
WHEREAS, there is a 25% match requirement of these funds by the City and other supporting agencies of the Celebrate Me - Celebrate Community Festival and Art Crawl 2021; and
WHEREAS, the 25% matching funds, equaling approximately $5,000, would come from Parks and Recreation staffing hours for both planning/pre-event work and day of staffing, office supply costs for promotional materials covered by Parks and Recreation, cost of interpreters covered by Mississippi Creative Arts Elementary, cost of other promotional and miscellaneous materials covered by the North End Booster Club and Midway Men’s Club funds, and revenue earned from selling concessions at the event; and
WHEREAS, that upon approval of its application by the State, the Department of Parks and Recreation will comply with all applicable laws and regulations as required receipt of said grant; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council hereby authorizes the Department of Parks and Recreation to apply for funding from the Minnesota State Arts Board.
