Authorizing the Police Department to accept the donation of travel costs from the U.S. Department of Justice – Federal Bureau of Investigation for the Chief of Police to attend the FBI National Executive Institute for law enforcement executives

WHEREAS, the U.S. Department of Justice - Federal Bureau of Investigations is hosting the FBI National Executive Institute for law enforcement executives, Cycle 1 in Fredericksburg, Virginia, March 8 to March 13, 2020, Cycle 2 in Charlottesville, Virginia, June 14 to June 19, 2020 and Cycle 3 at the Scottish Police College, Kincardine, UK. September 20 to September 25, 2020; and
WHEREAS, the Police Chief has been invited to attend this training where the costs of travel, be paid direct by the U.S. Department of Justice - Federal Bureau of Investigations; and
WHEREAS, the public purpose of the Chief’s participation in this event is to gain information that will benefit the Police Department’s operations management; and
WHEREAS, the SPPD would like to accept this unsolicited donation; and
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council accepts this generous donation and extends its sincere thanks to the U.S. Department of Justice - Federal Bureau of Investigations.
