Accepting the gift of travel expenses from the Knight Foundation for Mary Rick, Principal Project Manager to attend the Knight Cities Learning Exchange Journey in Miami, Florida on January 22 - 24, 2020.

WHEREAS, Mary Rick was selected by the Knight Foundation, to attend a tech and innovation delegation and learning exchange in Miami, Florida on January 22 - 24, 2020 and to participate in debrief gatherings on March 4 and March 7, 2020 in Saint Paul; and
WHEREAS, this was an opportunity for the City of Saint Paul to send representatives to tour communities and learn about effective tech, innovation, and startup ecosystem building approaches; and
WHEREAS, the learning exchange was attended by a delegation from another Knight city, Macon, Georgia, and built productive relationships within and between the delegations; and
WHEREAS, the Council finds a public purpose for Mary Rick’s attendance at this event because her attendance exposed her to sector best practices that were brought back to Saint Paul and the Full Stack initiative; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, the Saint Paul City Council accepts the gift of travel expenses for Mary Rick to Miami, Florida on January 22 - 24, 2020 and thanks the Knight Foundation for its generosity.
