Accepting the State of Minnesota, Department of Public Safety, Pathway to Policing Grant 2020 in the amount of $72,221.

WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul, Police Department (SPPD) has been awarded the Pathway to Policing Reimbursement Grant 2020 from the State of Minnesota, Department of Public Safety in the amount of $72,221 for a term of January 1, 2020 through December 31, 2020; and

 

WHEREAS, this grant is state funded (Chapter 95, Article 1, Section 11, Subdivision 7) and will provide funding to support the SPPD Law Enforcement Career Path Academy (LECPA) for direct costs relating to training and associated expenses for program participants; and

 

WHEREAS, the Saint Paul Police, along with the program partners is developing the LECPA program with the aim to make City law enforcement more representative of the communities served; and

 

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that council accepts this grant and authorizes the City of Saint Paul to enter into, and Assistant Chief Robert Thomasser to implement the attached agreement with the State of Minnesota, Department of Public Safety.
