Authorizing the Department of Parks and Recreation to apply for $4,000 in funding through the Saint Paul Garden Club, Community Improvement Project Grant program, to purchase seeds, plants, and related materials to enhance the Kellogg Mall Park roadway medians and, if successful, enter into an agreement with the Saint Paul Garden Club.

 

Body

WHEREAS, the Saint Paul Garden Club, a nonprofit organization, offers Community Improvement Project Grants to public agencies in an effort to encourage the best in design, creation and development of public gardens; and

 

WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation’s Blooming Saint Paul program exists to beautify Saint Paul while engaging community volunteers in an effort to stimulate the joy of gardening and to promote horticultural knowledge; and

 

WHEREAS, it is the intention of the Department of Parks and Recreation to apply for, and if selected, to accept a grant of $4,000 from the Saint Paul Garden Club to purchase seeds, plants and related materials to enhance the Kellogg Mall Park roadway medians; and

 

WHEREAS, the Saint Paul City Council finds that accepting these grant funds will allow Parks and Recreation to engage community volunteers in order to beautify Saint Paul; now, therefore, be it

 

RESOLVED, that designated Parks and Recreation staff members are hereby authorized to seek funding on behalf of the City and, if successful, enter into an agreement with the Saint Paul Garden Club to accept grant funds to be used for the purchase of seeds, plants and related materials for the Blooming Saint Paul program.
