Authorizing the Department of Parks and Recreation, Como Park Zoo and Conservatory Volunteer Services, to purchase items in an amount not to exceed $4,000 for volunteer recognition events.
Body
WHEREAS, Como Park Zoo and Conservatory’s Volunteer Services receives approximately 50,000 hours of volunteer support annually that is critical to the operational model and guest experience; and
WHEREAS, over the last decade, recognition of volunteers and their accomplishments has shown to be a very successful tool for increasing volunteer support and improving retention; and
WHEREAS, Como Park Zoo and Conservatory’s Volunteer Services recognizes volunteers through support and acknowledgement during their personal successes and/or hardships; and
WHEREAS, the successful facilitation of a Volunteer Program and related expenditure has a clear public purpose and benefit as they contribute to services and the operational model at Como Park Zoo and Conservatory resulting in budgetary savings;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Como Park Zoo and Conservatory Volunteer Services is hereby authorized to purchase food items, flowers, cards and photobooks for Volunteer recognition events, funerals, extensive hospital stays and any other events needing support through acknowledgement in an amount not to exceed $4,000.00.
