Authorizing Ward 1 to spend money raised through Model Cities to pay for a Ward 1 Community Meal.
Body
WHEREAS, City Council Ward 1 has partnered with the non-profit Model Cities to solicit donations for a Community Meal for residents of the ward; and
WHEREAS, the purpose of the event is to bring together neighbors to forge bonds within the community, strengthen engagement in neighborhood issues, and create a space for residents to discuss their shared visions; and
WHEREAS, the money collected will be used to pay for the food, venue, and other related costs, and there will be money allotted to small value prizes; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that there is a public purpose in the expenditure of money for the money on the Community Meal; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that Ward 1 is authorized to spend the money raised through Model Cities to pay for the costs of food, non-alcoholic beverages, venue and related charges, as well as small value prizes to be raffled off through a drawing, to host a Community Meal to be held at Frogtown Community Center on November 19, 2019.
