Accepting the gift of the cost of travel expenses from the American Council on Germany for Safety Advocate Fay Simer to participate in the Sustainable Urban Development Study Tour.
Body
WHEREAS, the American Council on Germany invited the Pedestrian Safety Advocate to participate in a Sustainable Urban Development Study Tour; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Public Works has identified the participation fee within its existing budget and the American Council on Germany will cover all other travel expenses; and
WHEREAS, the study tour includes a study tour in Germany from December 8-14, 2019 and a second week-long study tour in the U.S. during the spring of 2020; and
WHEREAS, the Pedestrian Safety Advocate will participate in on-line peer exchange activities to continue dialogue and exchange with members of the cohort between study tours; and
WHEREAS, the Pedestrian Safety Advocate will have the opportunity to learn how both American and German colleagues are tackling sustainability challenges, including urban mobility; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Saint Paul finds that attendance in the study tour will be beneficial to the city by furthering the city’s walkability and sustainability initiatives; now, therefore be it
RESOLVED, that the City Council accepts the gift of the cost of travel expenses for the Sustainable Urban Development Study Tour and thanks the American Council on Germany for its generous gift.
